Ever wonder what the best kind of lock is to purchase for your second home? Or why one is recommended over the other? I’m here to tell you that not all smart locks can keep up with repeat turnovers or allow you to see activity while you’re away. It is essential to have a system that works for both you and your guests. Below I have listed the products we recommend to our customers.
Smart locks help to ensure you do not have lockouts and increase the security of the home so someone cannot re-enter it. In order to prevent a lockout from occurring, and having to pay a locksmith, it is important to have a fail-proof plan that includes setting up a lock box with a spare key; we all know batteries could go dead and have had defective locks that we needed to send back for replacement. Either way, ensure that you are prepared for the worst. I always say, If you spend a little more now it will save you in the long run of your rental business.
The future is within the hub. I’ve used several different hubs and one I would recommend is Vera and Winx due to their connectivity to other systems and it is easy to navigate user interface.
Next, get a smartlock such as Schleage Lock and set it up with your HUB. You can also use Lockstate to control access from their desktop app.
