Deep Cleaning Checklist from The HOST

Spring is in the air! Spring is known for blooming flowers, warmer weather, and spring cleaning! With so many great parks, local attractions, restaurants, bars, and events year-round, your guests and their loved ones have a plethora of destinations to choose from!

It’s important to have your home properly cleaned before every guest arrival, but it is beneficial to do a “spring cleaning”, or deep cleaning, once in a while, too. Whether you want a quick and efficient cleaning or a full-scrub down, the HOST has a services checklist that we follow, and we want to share it with you!

 

HOST Services Checklist

Bathrooms:

  1. Clean, scrub, and sanitize: showers, bathtubs, vanity, sinks, and backsplashes
  2. Clean mirrors and windows
  3. Clean and sanitize toilet
  4. Wash floors and tile walls
  5. Empty and clean wastebasket: place 2 small trash bags inside
  6. Check and refill toiletries: hand soap, 2 rolls of toilet paper, makeup wipes (if any))
  7. Supply clean towels: 1 hand towels, 1 washcloth, 1 bath towels per guest. We recommend 1 shower mat per bathroom.
  8. Make sure sinks, tubs, and toilets are running correctly, and report any clogged toilets or sinks immediately as “report a problem”
  9. Replace shower curtain liners (if necessary)

Living Room:

  1. Clean, dust, and vacuum
  2. Dust furniture, picture frames, knick-knacks, and lamps
  3. Vacuum carpets, or wash the floors (specialty cleaner should be purchased and in stock at the home if preferred)
  4. Check sofa beds for dirty linens. If they are dirty, then the top sheet will be unfolded. If you are replacing dirty sheets, then place the bottom and top sheets folded together on the bed, so we know if it has been used with next guest
  5. Be sure to leave a clean blanket and 2 standard pillows for the sofa bed
  6. Empty and clean wastebaskets (if any)
  7. Locate the remote(s) and welcome book, and place them on the coffee table

Kitchen:

  1. Clean counters, chairs, and the dining table
  2. Clean sinks, countertops, and backsplashes
  3. Clean any glass door openings
  4. Clean appliance exteriors, including the toaster crumb tray and coffee maker
  5. Clean inside and outside of the refrigerator. Dispose of any food items not labeled by you – check the microwave oven
  6. Sweep and mop the floor
  7. Empty the dishwasher and organize cupboards
  8. Put out 2 clean dish towels and a new dishrag, sponge, or soap
  9. Make available 2 trash bags
  10. Make available 1 roll of paper towels
  11. Empty the ice tray
  12. Make available 2 dishwashing pods

Bedrooms:

  1. Change the sheets and pillowcases
  2. Vacuum the floor (as well as under the beds)
  3. Check for personal belongings left in the drawers and closets
  4. Dust the furniture and clean the mirrors
  5. Check for wear and tear or stains on the sheets and blankets. Damages should be reported

Closing duties:

  1. Turn thermostat to a temperature that does not keep the unit running all the time
  2. Turn off all the lights
  3. Ensure all doors are locked for no re-entry
  4. Put the patio set in storage or inside
  5. Put out the trash bins by the road  

*Owners ensure cleaners closet is stocked in advance with extra linens and towels

 

Spring Clean:

  1. Clean the exterior of the kitchen cabinets
  2. Clean and dust the lamps and lampshades
  3. Clean and shine the chrome fixtures
  4. Disinfect the countertops
  5. Vacuum upholstered furniture and under the cushions
  6. Clean range top and the inside of the oven
  7. Wash the windows and sliding glass doors
  8. Deep sanitize the sinks, countertops, appliances
  9. Change the air filters
  10. Clean the barbecue grill

 

Deep Clean

  1. Descale the faucets and shower heads
  2. Clean the dishwasher
  3. Disinfect
  4. Clean behind and under the large appliances and pieces of furniture (pull out away from the wall)
  5. Remove markings from walls – wash the walls, baseboards, and moldings
  6. Remove fingerprints from all woodwork, door-frames and switch plates
  7. Clean window sills, ledges, blinds, and ceiling fans
